The Qliphort mirror match is pretty horrendous, because Qliphort Scout can be son hard to get to sometimes. If your opponent finds it before you, you're going to lose pretty quickly.
I'd much rather lose that Game 1, because so many of the cards in my Main Deck are horrible against the mirror match anyway. Why would I want to play Mystical Space Typhoon to try and supplement the sheer number of bad cards I have for the mirror match?
The answer: I wouldn't. I think using those final two to three slots to help get to Qliphort Scout faster is a much better option. As I said, finding Scout quickly is a sure fire way to either win the mirror match or at least make it a game. Getting to Scout early and often will also help you in your other matchups. If you choose not to speed up the process of finding it, then I think more Nekroz hate or more generic traps like Fiendish Chain and Mirror Force is still a better way to go.
There's also the obvious fact that Qliphort Helix, when Tributed, can destroy any pesky spell or trap in your way. I'd much rather bank on resolving Helix in Game 1 than drawing into Mystical Space Typhoons as an answer to opposing Scouts and annoying Mistakes. Basically, if you're playing a floodgate deck like Qliphorts or Volcanics, I think your best option for Game 1 is to enhance your own deck's consistency or play more generic traps, before putting any Mystical Space Typhoons in your Main Deck.
I'm going to go even further with Burning Abyss and suggest that the deck doesn't even need to side it! I think Galaxy Cyclone's so much better in Burning Abyss that it's not even a contest.
Most of the cards that harm Burning Abyss are easily handled by a milled Galaxy Cyclone and you're going to mill more of your cards than draw them anyway so you may as well be able to make use out of those cards. If you don't use Mystical Space Typhoon, Royal Decree is the most annoying card against your strategy, but I like the odds of having a Galaxy Cyclone in the graveyard or using Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss's effect to get Decree off the field.

Example: If the turn player activates "Pot of Greed", and the opponent chains "Mystical Space Typhoon" to destroy "Butterfly Dagger - Elma" during the chain, it cannot return to the owner's hand. Once on the field it cannot be switched from monster to Spell Card or vice versa Curse of Royal : You can use Curse of Royal against cards like Ectoplasmer : You can chain "Mystical Space Typhoon" But you can re-direct it to target and destroy "Fiend's Hand Mirror".
Fusion Sword Murasame Blade : If the opponent chains "Mystical Space Typhoon" to the activation of this card, this card is destroyed before its effect can be applied.
Gearfried the Swordmaster : The Equip Card must be successfully equipped to "Gearfried the Swordmaster" to activate his effect. Nah in this meta we need twin twister. One Face down and on the next turn, face up. It's better if you don't want to pay a quarter of your LP. Imagine if everyone playing 3 of this card Cosmic cyclone will eventually get replaced by MST. No lp and also sends to grave, so it can be better in certain decks when you need toan destroy your own cards and send them to grave to activate their effects, like ancient gears.
